The three suspects aged between 20 and 30 years old were arrested as a result of a joint investigation by the Central Criminal Inspectorate in Oldenburg and the Osnabrück public prosecutor’s office. The suspects allegedly sold drugs including marijuana, methylphenidate, and codeine from mid-2020 to October 2021.
The investigation that resulted in the suspects’ arrest stemmed from data acquired during Operation Dark HunTOR, an operation that resulted in the arrest of 150 darkweb vendors and customers. Operation Dark HunTor was based on information collected from DarkMarket servers after its seizure in January 2021.
Investigators from the Central Criminal Inspectorate in Oldenburg learned that in October 2021, the suspects had stopped filling orders even after accepting payments from customers. Investigators identified the suspects and established that two of them resided in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, while the third suspect lived in Berlin.
On November 11, the investigators searched seven properties tied to the trio’s drug trafficking operation, resulting in the seizure of electronic devices. Forensic analysis of the seized devices is ongoing.
