College Student Busted for Ordering Etizolam on the Darkweb

A student at East Georgia State College faces charges for allegedly buying and selling Etizolam and Alprazolam on the darkweb. Sherriff’s deputies arrested the student after a month-long investigation involving surveillance and the interception of a package containing 1,100 pressed pills.
According to Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown, C. Castillo, 21, had purchased etizolam and alprazolam (Xanax) on the darkweb. Castillo was “suspected to be selling quantities of liquid Ezitolam, a benzodiazepine not approved by the Food and Drug Administration and commonly imported into the USA by use of the ‘dark web’ and paid for with untraceable crypto-currency,” the Sheriff said. (Etizolam is not a benzodiazepine. It is a thienotriazolodiazepine which is a benzodiazepine analogue.)

The investigation into Castillo began after the Bulloch County Crime Suppression Team learned of possible “drug activity” at the man’s Cottage Row home. Crime Suppression Team members conducted a month-long investigation into the suspected activity. As a part of the investigation, CST members conducted “undercover buys and operations” as well as traditional surveillance at Castillo’s house.
Sheriff Brown said that Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies had intercepted 1,100 pressed pills allegedly ordered by Castillo. The Sheriff did not explain how Sheriff’s deputies managed to intercept a package of pills.
Castillo is being held at the Bulloch County Jail on the following charges: sale of a Schedule IV drug; purchase of a Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm during commission of a crime; criminal attempt to distribute a Schedule IV drug; possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession/use of a drug related object.
