Pennsylvania Man Attempted to Buy Meth on the Darkweb
A Pennsylvania man allegedly purchased methamphetamine on the darkweb to resell locally, according to a recent announcement from United States Attorney Scott W. Brady.
A federal grand jury in Erie, Pennsylvania, indicted Michael Carter Anderson, 42, of Kane, Pennsylvania, on a single count of a federal drug law violation. According to the indictment, Anderson committed one count of attempting to possess with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.
United States Attorney Scott W. Brady for the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Pennsylvania accused Anderson of purchasing methamphetamine on the darkweb for the purpose of selling the methamphetamine to residents of Pennsylvania.

Court documents provided little to no information about the case or investigation that resulted in Anderson’s arrest. In the announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a number of federal law enforcement agencies received credit for their roles in the investigation, including:
the United States Postal Inspection Service; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the McKean County Detectives; and the McKean County Drug Taskforce
Anderson faces up to 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000,000. The maximum imprisonment and monetary punishment are likely much higher than the sentence Anderson will receive if convicted.
