Austrian Man Allegedly Bought Marijuana on the Darkweb

Authorities in Salzburg Austria arrested and charged a man for allegedly importing drugs purchased through the darkweb.
According to a press release by the Salzburg State Police Department, police arrested a 23-year-old man for importing multiple marijuana packages purchased from a darkweb vendor in Spain.
The 23-year-old’s drugs importation was discovered at the end of July 2021, after customs officers in Vienna intercepted a suspicious package from Spain. The package contained 50 grams of marijuana and was addressed to the 23-year-old’s residence.
The officers later intercepted and seized another package also shipped from Spain and addressed to the 23-year-old. After opening the package the officers found out that it carried 28 grams of cannabis. The Salzburg public prosecutor authorized a search warrant for the 23-year-old’s residence.
The Hallein police executed the search warrant on October 11. The search resulted in the seizure of a wide variety of drugs and weapons including stun guns and expandable batons.
Police also found and seized a package similar to those intercepted at the airport. The officers opened it and found eight grams of cannabis. During questioning, the 23-year-old told the police that he had ordered cannabis from the Spain-based vendor on ten occasions.
The Salzburg public prosecutor charged the 23-year-old with drugs and weapons possession charges.
