Austrian Brothers Allegedly Resold Drugs from the Darkweb

Police in Austria identified two brothers suspected of importing and reselling drugs purchased through the darkweb.

The Carinthia state police directorate said in a press release that authorities in Klagenfurt and Ferlach arrested a 32-year-old man accused of selling heroin and benzodiazepine pills purchased on the darkweb. The suspect allegedly conspired with his 35-year-old brother in the alleged crime.

“Extensive investigations” into the brothers' drug trafficking operation were conducted by the drug group of the BPK Klagenfurt in cooperation with the LKA and the Operative Criminal Police Service Klagenfurt. Investigators established that from late 2019 to June 2021, the brothers purchased a total of 850 grams of heroin and 350 benzodiazepine tablets from a darkweb vendor in the Netherlands. They allegedly resold all of the drugs to customers in Austria and made several thousands of euros from the sales.

The investigations led to the search of two houses in Klagenfurt and Ferlach on June 16, 2021. The searches allegedly resulted in the seizure of large quantities of undisclosed drugs.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested at his Klagenfurt home after the searches and was detained at the Klagenfurt Prison pending trial. The 32-year-old’s brother is on the run and has not yet been arrested.
